Doubling technique for 6 and 8 times table

The doubling technique is quite a useful technique for the 6 and 8 times table. However, it depends on the learning styles of the student. It may work for some and not for others. Those that prefer to calculate their answers out might prefer this technique.

This technique requires the prior knowledge of the 3 and 4 times table, as it is an extension of them. Doubling the 3 times table gives us the 6 times table and doubling the 4 gives us the 8. For example, if we are looking for 3 x 6, we only need to double the result of 3 x 3, which is 9 x 2 or 9 + 9. This would give us 18.

Have a go with the others and have fun discovering! :)
