The 9 times table can be one of the easiest or toughest to remember. Here we shall look at one of the methods to easily recall the 9 times table facts.
I would need you to imagine all your ten fingers spread open in front of you. Done that? Ok, let's start with 1 x 9. Bring your last finger on your left hand down. What do you see? On the left of the finger that is down, there are no fingers. Therefore the first digit for 1 x 9 is zero. The next digit for 1 x 9 is the number of fingers to the right of that finger which was down. You should see 9 fingers, and so 1 x 9 is 09.
2 x 9 can be found the same way. Let's do this together. Have all ten fingers up, and bring the second finger from the left of your left hand down. There is 1 finger to the left of this finger, so the first digit for 2 x 9 is 1. The next digit would be 8 since there are 8 fingers to the right of that finger which was down. Therefore, 2 x 9 is 18.
Give it a go for the rest of the 9 times table up to 10, and have fun investigating this method.
