Teacher's expectation critical to a child

I came across an article recently which further reinforced the approach I have been taking with my students.

I have always believed that in addition to imparting knowledge to children, we need to have that positive belief that they are capable of doing better.

The media report highlighted the studies that show that a teacher's expectation of a child affects the performance of that student. A low expectation of a child from the teacher has mostly led to a poor academic performance from the child, and vice versa, irrespective of the child's IQ level.

I am much more convinced now that the belief in our students can really translate to an improvement in their studies.
